Grant Park Neighborhood
Cohesive wayfinding and signage system and visual identity
Introduction
With over 130 acres, Grant Park is Atlanta’s oldest city park. It is home to miles of walking and jogging paths, along with Zoo Atlanta and the Atlanta Cyclorama & Civil War Museum.
The Challenge
As one of Atlanta's oldest neighborhoods, Grant Park is a thriving upscale community steeped in history and modern comforts. My journey here revealed a missing piece – outdated visual identity, the lack of clear signs and directions.

Divided by Progress: Grant Park's Interstate Impact
In the 1950s and 1960s, the Dwight D. Eisenhower Interstate System was in full construction mode. Hundreds of houses in the Grant Park neighborhood, as well as a couple of streets, were literally ripped out of the ground as the construction tore right through downtown Atlanta.
Today, the neighborhood is separated by this 250- to sometimes 450-foot-wide gulch with three-fourths of the neighborhood to the south of Interstate 20 and the remaining quarter to the north.
Symbolizing Unity in Grant Park
Throughout the neighborhood, residents display sunburst signs like this to support the ongoing efforts of the Grant Park Neighborhood Association. The sunburst is a symbol of restoration and cohesion of the neighborhood and takes its design from similar architectural decorative patterns found on many of the homes in Grant Park.
Creative Process
Wayfinding and Signage System
Inspired by the natural beauty and architectural charm of Grant Park, the wayfinding and signage system seamlessly blends with the surroundings. Drawing inspiration from the majestic trees and historic homes that define the neighborhood, the aim was to harmonize with the environment while guiding residents and visitors with ease.
